Water is powerful both inside and outside of the body. Dr. Simeons in Pounds and Inches recommends drinking 2 liters of water per day while on the diet. What we need to consider is when we drink caffeinated drinks such as coffee and tea we need to replace those with an extra 8 oz. of water. Water is essential in flushing out the system and keeping your body hydrated while on the diet.
About two thirds of our body weight is water and every cell and organ in the body needs water for it to function properly. Drinking enough water every day keeps your skin hydrated which helps reduce fine lines and small wrinkles. Keeping your body hydrated also helps your skin’s elasticity and dehydrated skin tends to sag so make sure you drink enough water everyday.
If you are dehydrated you will suffer from constipation. “Anything that helps keep digestion normal, any live bacteria or enzymes, is also going to be reflected in healthy-looking skin” (Nutrition expert Liz Lipski, PhD, CCN).
It is best to get your hydration from water. Soda, coffee and alcohol dehydrate the system, so try and stay away from those beverages and if you do drink them follow each one with an extra 8 ounces of water. If you do not stay hydrated, your body will rob water from your intestines and that can cause issues on the inside as well as with your skin.
So, drink up your body will thank you and so will the scale!
